One of our monthly vertical trips! This month we are going to Eun To The Mill Cave, in Cumberland County, TN. This SCCi cave is a TAG classic, with a deep pit, miles of passage, and large borehole. The cave is over 15,000 feet long and 445 feet deep, with a 167-foot deep pit. It’s truly a caver’s cave.
Please sign up at the beginning of this month at our grotto meeting, or reach out to me at the email below. Vertical caving involves technical maneuvers while on rope and is not for beginners. All attendees on a vertical trip shall have their own vertical equipment and be able to demonstrate requisite skills.
If you'd like to learn more about vertical techniques, the grotto has a monthly practice night. Additionally, classes in Single Rope Technique (SRT) can be found from the NSS Vertical Training Commission (VTC), and the Huntsville Cave Rescue Unit (HCRU).
Are you new to caving? We would love to show you how to cave safely, soundly, and responsibly on a beginner horizontal trip. Please introduce yourself at one of our meetings and reference the New Caver Info (pdf) under Documents.
We are in search of trip leaders! Would you like to lead this trip, other trips, or learn how to lead your own cave trip? A vertical trip leader shall be able to safely rig, inspect attendees for safety, and be familiar with rescue techniques. Please reach out to the Projects Chair @ andrew.matievski@gmail.com with any questions.
